With 130 registered events in over 50 countries worldwide, World Migratory Bird Day (WMBD) 2009 was celebrated on 9-10 May 2009 with a great deal of enthusiasm and dedication to the cause.

From Australia to Curacao (Dutch Antilles), from Canada to Turkmenistan, school children, teachers, conservationists, politicians, clubs, conservation organisations, journalists and many others joined World Migratory Bird Day 2009 and raised the awareness for migratory birds and the barriers they face during their journeys.
