Statements to Mark World Migratory Bird Day 2015

Key World Migratory Bird Day supporters and partners from around the world provided statements on the value of migratory bird conservation, the World Migratory Bird Day campaign and this year's theme. They all agree: migratory birds are exposed to various threats and therefore urgent action is needed to conserve them.

The Statements also show how this year's World Migratory Bird Day theme "Energy - make it bird-friendly!" relates to their own conservation efforts and projects that form a network of conservation across the world.

All statements we receive will be added to this page as soon as they are made available to us. You are very welcome to add a statement on behalf of your organisation. Please contact us [here].

Quote to Mark World Migratory Bird Day from Ban Ki-moon, Secretary-General of the United Nations

"I fully support the global campaign to raise awareness about the threats to migratory birds from habitat destruction, overexploitation, pollution and climate change. I call for greater international efforts to restore and preserve migratory birds and the network of sites they need to survive as an important part of the environment on which we all depend."

Mr. Ban Ki-moon, Secretary-General of the United Nations
