International public presentation of the conservation project Waldrappteam

The species conservation project Waldrappteam, which now has become a life+ biodiversity project of the European Union presents its international goals, successes and methodology in two European zoos which are official project partners.
In Vienna Zoo we present the handraising of Northern Bald Ibis chicks by two foster parents with an information tent and childrens program. In our Italian partner, Parco Natura Viva in Italy the project will also be presented for the visitors. This presentations in two different countries at the same time are meant to show the necessity of international collaboration and public relations for the protection (and in our case: re-introduction) of migrating bird species. Besides our methodology of re-introducing the birds by leading hand-raised chicks with microlight planes to their wintering habitat from Austria and Germany to Italy, our goals also include public awareness, international networking and campaigns against illegal hunting. For us, public relations, guided tours and the possibility for the public to visit our sites and the birds always have been an important part of the project - a fact that ist related to the topic "migratory birds and tourism".
