The Migratory Soaring Birds Project celebrates the World Migratory Bird Day in Yemen

Wed. 16OCT 2013: Preparatory team leaves Sana’a for Bab al-Mandab by land transportation via Taiz. Meet the authorities to discuss the details of the event. Dinner and overnight (o/n) camping in Bab al-Mandab. Thu, 17 OCT 2013: Early departure of all of the participants and stakeholders from Sana’a to Bab al-Mandab by land transportation (about 10 hours by a mini coach – 19 seats) via Taiz. Breakfast and lunch en route. Once arrived at Bab al-Mandab will do a bird-watching tour to see the landing MSBs. Dinner at site followed by presenting to the audience a great and attractive film on the big migration of birds from pole to pole, if available, using a big screen and projector followed by a talk on the next day’s migration and discussion to get the sympathy of the audience for the migrating birds. O/n camping. Fri, 18 OCT 2013: Early breakfast followed by bird-watching of the migration of the MSBs in reality. Drive to the districts guesthouse for an indoor meeting to avoid the sun. During the meeting we will discuss: • The importance of migratory soaring birds (cultural, economic, social, ecologic etc….) • About the RFFMSB project. • About the Electricity & Energy Sector as well as the Agriculture Sector and their threats to MSBs. • The potential collaboration between the project and the priority sectors. After the meeting drive to Mocha for lunch and drive back to Sana’a via Taiz. End of the celebration.
