On Thursday, May 11th 2017, the AvayeBoom Bird Conservation Society in collaboration with department of environmental protection of Chaharmahal Bakhtiyari province, conducted a full one day training program at Gandoman international wetland.
During the early hours, staff of department of environmental protection set up chairs and other equipment in a proper spot beside the wetland to welcome the participants. At 10 a.m. invitees who were mostly local teachers and school staff attended the program. Among other guests were Naghme Sabz and Saman Pooya association, eager students and local authorities. Initially teachers received a brief training on the concept and importance of world migratory bird day and then with the aid of AvayeBoom guides they had birdwatching experience using binoculars and telescopes. Next they were divided into groups of 10 to 15 and two guides accompanied each group for walks alongside the wetland for birding and answering their questions. Members of local NGOs and local authorities also attended the program and their questions about this day were answered. This part of the program was ended at 12:30 by distributing training brochures and advertising car stickers. 
Following the first part, the second part of program started by active training of wetland’s nearby residents. The trained volunteers of AvayeBoom then divided into groups of 3 to 4 persons. These groups walked in different directions of Gandoman and Choghakhor international wetlands to identify local people whose livings were related to wetland and approached them. After an initial friendly chat with locals, volunteers gave them information on how birds are beneficial to them and to the wetland for 5 to 15 minutes and then recorded the local’s information on separate forms and rated each based on their level of knowledge and interest for future collaborations. The training was given in accordance with local’s occupation, knowledge and interest to make it more practical, interesting and effective. Brochures were given to their kids for further studying. 
Local trainings ended by the sunset. During this program tens of teachers, principals and residents whose livings were somehow related to the wetland received proper training and this way the most thorough program in relation to world migratory bird day ever done in center of Iran ended.
