Several states in the country have used the medium of Bird Festivals to showcase the bird diversity in their region, with a view of increasing bird tourism as well as spreading knowledge about the birds and bird conservation in their specific region.
Kashmir has a vast number of birds (approx. 500 species and being almost 40% of India’s birds).
Much of the wilderness and avifauna in the state remains unexplored including large and unspoilt forests and wetlands like Dachigam, Pahalgam, Sonamarg, Hokarsar, Anchar, Dal Lake etc.
