Coastal Clean-up in Manila Bay

We organize coastal clean-ups with volunteers and partners thoughout the year at the Las Piňas-Paraňaque Critical Habitat and Ecotourism Area in Manila Bay or LPPCHEA (pronounced "LaPaPaChey-ah") in the Philippines.

50% of bird species at this site are migratory, coming from as far north as China and Siberia, including Little Egrets and Black-Crowned Night Herons.

Unfortunately this location is often riddle with trash flowing in from the city. In 2017, volunteers collected more than 50 sacks of plastic waste (utensils, straws, plastic bags, wrappers, diapers, bottles), 80 sacks of Styrofoam waste and 80 sacks of rubber and cloth waste (shoes, slippers, bags).

We continue the push to clean-up our coasts for people, and our feathered visitors this May. For more information, contact the Haribon Foundation at [email protected].
