World Migratory Bird Day at Sofia Zoo

On May 11 (Saturday), we will celebrate the World Migratory Bird Day at Sofia Zoo with a focus on several emblematic migratory bird species - the Egyptian Vulture, the Imperial Eagle and the Stork, organized by Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds/ BirdLife Bulgaria.

Every visitor will have the opportunity to learn more about Egyptian Vulture and its irreplaceable role as a cleaner in nature. Each step of the program is deeply related to the flyway and the dangers that the vulture face during the migration. The main threats to the other two migratory species - the Imperial Eagle and the Stork will be on focus too.

At the central entrance, we will welcome you around our info point, where you can get information about everything that is coming during the day! You will learn about the special equipment for birdwatching. An animator will paint the faces of the children before the start of the challenge: "A Mile for the Egyptian Vulture."

Everyone will have the opportunity to learn more about these majestic birds! Apart from the lecture, you will also be able to check whether flying is an easy job! With the help of a trampoline, you will have the opportunity to fly in the air for a second, and we will give you the best shot of your flight!

The event is organized under the LIFE  projects "Egyptian vulture New LIFE" and “Land for LIFE” in cooperation with Sofia Zoo.
