Zaštititi ptice: Budi rešenje za plastično zagađenje

Since the school children are more likely to be in touch with the nature, we consider that they would be a great target group for awareness enhancement about plastic pollution and the consequences it causes to all living creatures with the special reference to birds. With this purpose, we will organize lectures about plastic pollution and how it impacts migratory birds, giving guidance on how we can help to protect birds by decreasing the use of plastic. We will emphasize how plastic pollution is particularly dangerous due to its lasting design — some pieces  need even million years to degrade. Through lectures we will try to inspire the participants to organize plastic garbage cleanups in their neighbourhoods.

Second part of the program will be dedicated to workshop activities. Children will have an opportunity to make  different bird figures from plastic (balls, plates) and paper and take them home as a reminder to decrease the use of plastic bags, glasses and straws because they can cause severe deaths of birds and other animals. We will also offer colouring books and composition of puzzles with motives highlighting the negative impact of plastic on migratory birds and their habitats.

Last but not least we will try to organize within Natural History Museum mini exhibition about negative effects of fishing nets on waterbirds.
