TO ALL WMBD PARTICIPANTS AND ORGANISERS

FOR MAKING WMBD 2010 SUCH A GREAT SUCCESS!

 

With over 90 registered events in more than 40 countries worldwide, World Migratory Bird Day (WMBD) 2010 was celebrated on 8-9 May 2010. All of this year’s events were carried out with tremendous enthusiasm and a great deal of dedication in: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bangladesh, Benin, Botswana, Burundi, Cameroon, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Croatia, Egypt, Ethiopia, France, Germany, Hong Kong SAR (China), India, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Madagascar, Malaysia, Mongolia, Morocco, Nepal, Pakistan, Puerto Rico, Serbia, South Africa, Spain, the Republic of Korea, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Tunisia, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, the United States of America, Uganda, Venezuela and Zimbabwe!

Please send us a selection of photos taken at your events along with a short description of your WMBD activity, which we would be happy to add to the WMBD website.

World Migratory Bird Day (WMBD) is now also present on Facebook and Twitter and you are welcome to upload your WMBD event photos and descriptions there too. Both platforms can be used to share your experience and give you the possibility to link up with others around the world who have also carried out activities to mark WMBD this year.

Many organisations and partners worldwide have promoted World Migratory Bird Day (WMBD) 2010 in all sorts of ways and we are very grateful for all the support we received. We have picked up over 100 articles referring to WMBD 2010 from media and website sources from around the world. The WMBD Team here at the AEWA and CMS Secretariats in Bonn, Germany would like to express our great appreciation and thanks to all those who participated in the global celebration and helped organise these outstanding events. Your contributions have helped World Migratory Bird Day (WMBD) 2010 to come alive and thus make a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the threats faced by migratory birds around the world. Next year’s campaign will have a different focus and we hope to be able to inspire you again and look forward to celebrating WMBD 2011 with you next year!
