World Migratory Bird Day 2007 |
In 2007 World Migratory Bird Day was celebrated in more than 58 countries and at more than 100 different locations all across the planet on the weekend of 12-13 May. The central theme “Migratory birds in a changing climate” helped focus world attention on the plight of migratory birds in the face of global warming. WMBD activities around the globe highlighted the effects increasing temperatures, altered rainfall and vacillating weather conditions are having on migratory birds.
Also in 2007, a drawing competition was conducted. 156 children participated from around the world and sent their masterpieces to the AEWA Secretariat. Their paitings pointed their ideas, fears and claims on migratory birds in a changing climate.
