The 2018 world bird migratory day will be held for the first time in Omo forest reserve, Ogun state, Nigeria. The two day event will begin on friday with awareness visits to selected communities around the reserve. During these visits, awareness will be raised on bird soecies migration, the threats and the actions required to mitigate these threats. 

The second day event will begin with a bird watching outing around the reserve. This will be followed by an assembly where invited partcipants will be treated to an educative play on bird migration.

Join GEAS and our community partners at the Zoo for a range of fun activities, including short bird walks, crafts for the family, door prizes, and more! (Please note that standard entrance fees apply.) Come celebrate birds with us!

A week long focus (May 6- 12) on our social media channels to showcase the activites by the offices within the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Admistration to benefit and study bird populations

Since 2013, Fundación Científica ARA MACAO celebrates the Migratory Bird Day in Venezuela, both in spring and autumn. Performs several activities both in the interior and in some Caribbean islands (Los Roques, Margarita and Coche). Environmental education and scientific activities are carried out to show local communities the importance of migratory birds conservation.

Discover which species of migratory birds live at the Oregon Zoo and how the zoo helps them thrive and survive: the green-winged teal, the bufflehead, the ruddy duck and the northern shoveler, along with the California condor, the golden eagle and the western screech owl (pictured above), among others.

Join us on Saturday, May 12, and Sunday, May 13, as we celebrate International Migratory Bird Day to raise awareness for migratory bird conservation! 

This year is the 20th anniversary of International Migratory Bird Day, and we’re encouraging people to take action to help preserve birds every day. Come learn how and get connected to bird conservation through special bird encounters, presentations, and interactive education stations.

The event was scheduled for May 16 or 18. It will be held on May 4 and a few days before mentioned other activities will be carried out on the school campus.

For that week of May we will be doing activities related to birds, their habitats (region where they live on the island) and making of aviaries. We will have videos of how ecosystems have been affected after the passage of Hurricane Maria.

Age level: All ages Registration not required Celebrate “the Year of the Bird” highlighting spring migrants, bird research, and bird conservation.  Participants may observe bird banding research between 9 a.m.-noon, and enjoy games, crafts, puppet shows and more throughout the day. We are celebrating World Migratory Bird Day with an event at Rosegg Animal Park. 

The event program includes info stands, presentations, a guided tour at Northern Bald Ibis aviary, movie screenings, crafts and other activities for children. A talk on reintroduction of Northern Bald Ibis in Europe by Life project and a lecture on bird migration are among other event highlights.
