Jo Santiago & the Birds of Prey at Seward Academy

Jo Santiago, a wildlife biologist from the US Forest Service, will conduct an interactive presentation about birds of prey and conservation of wildlife & habitat. The presentation will include an American bald eagle, a red-tailed hawk, a broad-winged hawk, a merlin, an American kestrel, and an eastern screech owl. She will focus on the importance of birds in our world and how they relate to people.
World Migratory Bird Day inspires participants to celebrate a wide variety of activities to raise appreciation and concern for birds. Public awareness and concern are crucial components of migratory bird conservation. Citizens who are enthusiastic about birds, informed about threats, and empowered to become involved in addressing those threats, can make a tremendous contribution.
