Migratory Birds Program at Travertine Nature Center

Join rangers at Travertine Nature Center to learn about migratory birds in honor of World Migratory Bird Day.

Oklahoma lies in the heart of the Central Migratory Flyway, where birds travel annually between South America and North America, but sometimes even into the Arctic Circle! Neotropical birds fly through the area during the early spring and summer, bringing their bright colors and cheerful songs to the forest and prairie of ChickasawNRA. The Scissor-tailed Flycatcher, Oklahoma's state bird, is one of the migratory species that graces the state with its presence during breeding season.
