World Migratory Bird day - Botswana

BirdLife Botswana has been celebrating the World Migratory Bird Day annually since its establishment with more than 200 school children across the country. The 2019 event will be held on Saturday 12th October at Sehithwa village, found in the northern part of the country, and it is held in partnership with the Department of Wildlife and National Parks. The event will be celebrated with more than 200 school children from schools in the region performing dramas, poems and songs, conveying the message of the migratory bird day theme, to the community. There will be a panel of judges taken from the village who are experts in performing arts to evaluate the schools presentations. The first and second prize winners from each category will get a trophy. A certificate of participation will be issued to all the schools attending the event. The event will be officiated by the Deputy Director from the University of Botswana's Harry Openheimmer Research Centre (HORC) in Maun, north of Botswana, and graced by the village chief, member of the district council, school headmasters, members from the Village Development Committee (VDC), school teachers and the community.
