Bird Friendly Orillia with David Hawke

Bird Friendly Orillia and David J. Hawke will be presenting an interactive Zoom event on Saturday May 14 at 7 p.m to celebrate World Migratory Bird Day (WMBD). https://www.worldmigratorybirdday.org/

In support of certifying Orillia as a “Bird Friendly City” for Nature Canada, this free presentation will highlight some of the many bids that make Orillia their home base. From house wrens to chimney swifts almost 300 bird species can be found in and around Orillia.

This presentation will also include suggestions for helping birds to survive in our area. By looking at their habitat needs, we might be able to assist with bird feeders, nesting boxes and the planting of sheltering and seed-bearing shrubs.

For continuing information and participation regarding our feathered neighbours, there will be links to the Orillia Naturalists’ Club and other supporting organizations such as Sustainable Orillia, Green Orillia, and the Couchiching Conservancy.

David will be available for a question and answer session immediately following his presentation. This will be an opportunity for you to ask about the birds in your neighbourhood.
