Awareness Raising Workshop supplemented with Field Visit to a Wind Farm

World Migratory Birds Day (WMBD) Celebration events by EWNHS

The Ethiopian Wildlife and Natural History Society (EWNHS) will participate in the WMBD 2015 event celebration. The celebration will take place at DSW/BONITA Youth Development Training Centre in Debrezeit/Bishoftu, over two days (21 & 22 May 2015), in collaboration with our main partner, the Ethiopian Wildlife Conservation Authority (EWCA), and other stakeholders in the energy sector. Our activities will include among others a visit to a Wind Farm, and an Awareness Raising Workshop focusing on the negative impacts of energy and mitigation measures required to minimize the same.  A total of thirty participants drawn from ten pertinent government institutions including the mass media will be invited.

The event will commence with a Field visit to Adam I Wind Farm about 98 km south east of Addis Ababa, on the first half of day one. Beginning in the afternoon of the same day, 5 papers on thematic issues will be presented by experts drawn from partner organizations. Promotional materials such as banners, T-shirts, cap, etc., depicting the WMBD celebration, will be produced in collaboration with (EWCA), the focal point for Africa-Eurasian Water Birds Agreement (AEWA). There will be also a short video-clip on TV about WMBD and the event.
