World Migratory Bird Day at Boondall Wetlands

Visit Boondall Wetlands Environment Centre to help celebrate World Migratory Bird Day, a global awareness-raising event about the importance of protecting migratory birds and their habitats. Moreton Bay hosts more than 40,000 migratory shorebirds from September to April each year.
You can learn more about the fascinating story of migratory shorebirds when you visit Boondall Wetlands. Chat to friendly staff and volunteers, view displays, information and museum shorebird specimens, watch the ‘Sharing Shorelines’ documentary, children can add their colouring-in and bird drawings to the ‘Birds of the Wetlands’ display, or borrow track booklets and binoculars so you can set off on a self-guided track walk to the Bird-Hide.

(Please note there are a limited number of binoculars available for loan. Photo identification is required).

Why not make a day of it and bring along a picnic lunch to enjoy under the shelter shed.

No bookings required. All children MUST be accompanied by a supervising adult at all times.
The children’s colouring-in activity is designed for use by three or four children at a time, on a casual ‘drop-in’ basis.

Please also note that some tracks may be closed on the day in the event of heavy rain or hazardous track conditions, please check with Environment Centre staff.
