World Migratory Bird Day (WMBD) is a celebration held every year since 2006 to create public awareness on nature conservation, especially for migratory birds.
The UKM HIMPUS (Student Association of Poultry Lovers) at the Veterinery Faculty Of Syiah Kuala University is composed of veterinary students who will carry out the second organizing event to spread the word about WMBD. In 2015, UKM HIMPUS participated in a celebration which was organized by Aceh Birder and in 2016 UKM HIMPUS continued this celebration as an organizer. So, in 2017 UKM HIMPUS will be continuing this celebration as an organizer.
The series of activities starts on May 6th and then May 14th, 2017 will be the peak day of celebration:
1. Seminar of World Migratory Bird Day theme - "Their Future is Our Future" - on May 6th, 2017 at Veterinary Faculty Of Syiah Kuala University
2. Observation and Birdwatching of Bird Migration on May 14th, 2017 at Ujong Pancu Peukan Bada, Aceh Besar, Aceh Province, Indonesia.
The target for participants are: students of Syiah Kuala University, students of Universities in Aceh, students of schools and high schools in Aceh and the general public. We expect a total of 150 people to participate.
We hope this activity will increase the awareness of Aceh's citizens about wild birds, and continues to trigger more activity for nature preservation, especially to preserve the birds life.
