Flight at Night at Waneka Lake

A magical and unique event for the whole family. Celebrate bird migration, the Fall Equinox and the coming of darkness with a Lantern Walk around Waneka Lake along with an exciting schedule of other night time activities. People of all ages can enjoy storytelling, stargazing, learning about nighttime bird migration and much more. The featured activity will be a walk around the lake with homemade lanterns made from local, recyclable materials including willow canes from Lafayette Open Space properties. Two lantern-making workshops – one for families at the Lafayette Rec Center, and one for adults at The Collective - will be held in advance of the September 22 event. This event is suitable for all ages and will also feature an array of fine door prizes. The event is co-sponsored by Lafayette Open Space and the Lafayette Cultural Arts Commission. Meet at the Waneka Lake Boathouse.
