Community Outreach through World Migratory Bird Day Observation in Bangladesh

Essay competion and school programme: We will conduct awareness programmes in ten schools in Rajsgahi, Natore, Sylhet, Rangpur and Dhaka – regions visited by a wide variety of migratory birds and known for bird hunting. In aforementioned areas we will  arrange essay competions in ten middle schools and provide prizes to the winners from each school followed by a one hour seminar. The expected outcome of these events is raising awareness of school children which contribute to the overall awareness of local communities

Mass rally and a discussion: A mass rally will be organized in capital city Dhaka on World Migratory Bird Day on 11th May 2019 followed by a discussion about migratory birds, the threats they face and conservation need. We will invite policy makers, administrative bodies, conservationists, education activists and mass media reprensentatives etc. to participate and share their thoughts about migratory birds. This discussion will also encourage participants to commit their support to conserve migratory birds.

Education and outreach: Under this activitiy we will print posters, leaflets and stickers designed by EAAFP and also with the information of  present conditions and laws regarding protecting of migratory birds. All those promotion materials will be distributed to the mass community of Bangladesh, especially the areas where migratory birds roam. This activity will reach mass community and educate them about wildlife conservations and present threats about migratory birds and their roaming habitat. Along with leaflet poster and sticker, we will arrange social media based live seminar where we will invite birds specialist to speak on wildlife aiming to spread message about migratory birds protection in Bangladesh.
