Join us Saturday May 9th, to kick off World Migratory Bird Day 2020. This year's theme is  "Birds Connect Our World".  Our event will be going online this year to respect social distancing requirements.  We will be sharing photos and hearing the stories of birds that you or your neighbours have photographed this spring. We would love you and your family to participate!  We can't wait to see the birds in and around your naturehood!

While social distancing, observing and listing bird species observed.  In some cases also photographing the birds. 

Despite the exceptionally cold weather for May and the self-imposed constraints of COVID-19, several members of the Otter Valley Naturalists participated in this year’s World Migratory Bird Day held Saturday by individually observing and reporting the birds near their homes.  48 species of birds were observed.

Birds on Niagara is in our 3rd year as an International Bird Festival celebrating both the winter birds on the Niagara River Strait, and providing year round educational activities with partners on both sides of the border.  Our goals are to both raise the awarness of birds, and to help to introduce citizen science to very critical conservation needs. This spring during the Corvid-19 pandemic we are hosting a series of vitural events to help keep people connected.

We challenge you to get outside. We challenge you to explore and discover the birds in your area. We challenge you to become a citizen scientist by recording what birds you see. And, we challenge you to become part of a national network of citizen scientists providing real data to real scientists. 

We invite all in the SF Bay Area to join in celebrating this World Migratory Bird Day by uploading and sharing observations from your backyard, neighborhood, or local parks to iNaturalist on May 9, 2020. Due to restrictions to safeguard against COVID-19, we are unable to meet in person at this time, so let this be a way to find community through our shared passion of birds.

Birdathon 2020 is a celebration of LOCAL birding, whether it occurs in your yard, your town, or within walking range. Instead of teams competing against each other for high species totals and bragging rights, we’re all in this one together – the more people we have the better we’ll do, and perhaps set a bar we can try to overcome in a future year. The goal is simple: Let’s see how many species we can COLLECTIVELY find within New Hampshire on May 9.

  WIldsight Golden is celebrating World Migratory Bird Day by hosting a social distancing event.  We are encouraging locals to particiapte in the Global Big Day, adding bird sighting information to  the eBird database.
