Year of the Bird at at Veterans Memorial Park

The “Year of the Bird” will be celebrated during World Migratory Bird Day with a new name and a bevy of events scheduled for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 12, at Veterans Memorial Park according to a news release.

This is the 19th year of celebrating bird migration in the Upper Klamath Basin, and with this year’s events comes a name change. The celebration has changed from “International” to “World” Migratory Bird Day as the event has expanded this year from a focus on migratory bird corridors in the Americas to looking at bird corridors all over the world.

Veterans Memorial Park on Saturday, May 12 will be the site of an action packed day full of free activities for the whole family.

There will also be free entertainment all day starting with Bonnie Hay and Mike Campbell at 10 a.m.; Tommy Franks at 11 a.m.; Bill Palmer at noon; Bob Pickle at 1 p.m., and The Thrown Together Band at 2 p.m.

There will be food and craft booths along with the educational activities.
