Kachemak Bay Shorebird Festival

Alaska’s largest wildlife viewing festival honors the return of spring and the breathtaking migration of shorebirds through Kachemak Bay. 

The Friends of Alaska National Wildlife Refuges and Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge, invite you to attend the 27th Annual Kachemak Bay Shorebird Festival.  Homer’s  seaside setting is perfect for spotting over 130 migratory bird species, as well as numerous other resident species.  With over 100 events to choose from, there’s something for everyone!

Our 2019 Festival will host Keynote Speaker Jennifer Ackerman, as well as Featured PresentersRaymond VanBuskirk and Ben Knoot. Distinguished guests will present a variety of workshops and lectures, including presentations on Ackerman’s new book, The Genius of Birds and daily photography workshops as well.  This year’s featured artist is Valisa Higman!
