World Migratory Bird at Eleven Mile State Park

Be the solution to plastic pollution!
Plastic pollution has become a worldwide epidemic and a primary threat to birds across the globe. An estimated 8.3 billion metric tons of plastic have been produced since the 1950s. Only 9% of plastic waste has been recycled, and an estimated 79% of plastic waste accumulates in landfills or the natural environment. Most exist indefinitely, eventually fragmenting into smaller pieces over time. As exposure to plastics increases, birds and their environments are facing increasingly detrimental consequences.
Join us for a short talk about how you can help our birds followed by a birdwatching hike! Make it a day and participate in a plastic micro-trash sweep with your friends and family. Bring your collected micro-trash to the visitor center for a certificate of appreciation and a spot on our brag board!
