“Birds Alive” by the Society for the Protection of Nature in Lebanon - SPNL
1. Introduction
This year Society for the Protection of Nature in Lebanon – SPNL, the BirdLife partner in Lebanon, and under the Spring Alive campaign, decided to launch an educational competition “Birds Alive” for children between 7 and 13 years old.
The competition consists of 8 weekly multidisciplinary challenges related to birds and bird migration that children can do for the well-being of our nature. Moreover, some interesting facts about birds additionally to a small quiz are shared weekly in order to deliver awareness and education through entreating and interactive approaches.
The challenges, facts, and quizzes are posted on SPNL’s social media platforms (Facebook and Instagram)
Please note that due to the coronavirus outbreak and the current critical situation, all the challenges are tailored to be executed at home, where children will have the chance to make the best out of this lockdown through enjoying some challenging educational activities and share the results in order to be among the first 3 winners of Birds Alive competition.

1. A copy of our developed board game “Risky Flyway” where you can dive into the bird migration world while facing all the threats and avoiding them.

4. Some stories (depending on the winner’s age)
5. An invitation for a guided visit to our Homat Al Hima International Center – HHIC, so you can enjoy a special tour in SPNL’s butterfly garden and plant nursery or to Mount Lebanon Hima Center- MLHC where you can enjoy the bird aviary and hiking trail. (when the situation gets better)
Birds alive and WMBD
Being an educational competition about birds and bird migration, Birds Alive will be celebrating the world bird migration day through the shared facts, quizzes and challenges in order to make children feel more close to nature in this lockdown situation.
Please note that the fifth week of this competition will be directly about the WMBD.
