Bird & Butterfly Festival

Celebrate World Migratory Bird Day, Saturday, October 8, 1:00 - 4:00 pm, at the Watermark Art Center in downtown Bemidji. Learn about challenges birds face from 'light pollution' on their journey south; and hear from Jennifer Theime about another long-distance traveler - Monarch Butterflies!

Presentations – (inside the Watermark Art Center)

  • 1:00pm – Welcome: Mayor Jorge Prince, Ericka and Peter
  • 1:15pm - Jennifer Thieme (Monarch Joint Venture) will deliver a live virtual presentation about the status of the monarchs.
  • 2:30pm - Allison Barta Report 
  • 2:45pm - Paul Conklin (Dark Sky Association) is will provide a short presentation on efforts in MN to address ‘Light Pollution’ as a major threat for birds this issue.

Outdoor Activities

  • Seed Gathering Session
  • Parks & Rec Bird Passport Activity – Go from booth to booth collecting bird stickers in your passport booklet.
