Festival Of Flight

The city of Dripping Springs Parks and Community Service Department alongside the Hays County Master Naturalists, the Hays County Master Gardeners, Tree Folks, and Dripping Springs Wild Birds Unlimited will hold the second Annual Festival of Flight, a World Migratory Bird Day event on Saturday, May 14. The Festival of Flight is a free event that will be held at Dripping Springs Ranch Park from 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Festival of Flight is one of the worldwide events organized as part of World Migratory Bird Day, a global annual awareness-raising campaign. This local event will help educate attendees on how migrant species play an important economic role in Dripping Springs, how they face a growing number of threats in their summer and winter migrations, and how they are declining throughout the Americas. Various organizations at the event will also share ways individuals can help protect these migrant species.

Guided bird hikes will take off at 7:30 a.m., 9:00 a.m., and 10:30 a.m. In between the hikes, families can partake in many of the activities and crafts available. The Festival of Flight is one of many events, activities, and initiatives the city of Dripping Springs holds throughout the year to help protect birds and is part of why Dripping Springs was recently designated a Bird City Texas community.
