Arenzano heights are the ideal meeting point for celebrating World Migratory Bird Day: here thousands of birds of prey, like the Honey Buzzards, pass through on their way from Africa to Europe to nest. However, they are not the only ones still migrating: we will observe Booted Eagles, Hawks, Kites and young Short-toed Eagles flying across the Beigua’s sky following one of the most important migration routes.

We decided to hold an event on World Migratory Bird Day, including birdwatching, educational activities and online programs.

We will organize the WMBD event at Chukh lake, and entirely based on Chukh Bird Research Station. It is vital to organize WMBD event among the local kids and herder families at Chukh Lake, in northeastern Mongolia which is an important stopover site for many species of migratory birds especially for shorebirds. We are very excited to lead on this celebration! Let's enjoy with us.

Se realizarán tres talleres dirijidos a personas de comunidad, para dar a conocer las aves migratorias que llegan al parque nacional Lagunas de Montebello, dentro de este taller se incluye una presentación, una actividad lúdica y un recorrido corto de observación de aves, además de colocará una exposición fotográfica con aves migratorias que se hayan encontrado en el área y también algunas residentes para que se pueda hacer una comparación.

We will explore photos and videos, learn about Chimney Swift behavior, discuss threats to Chimney Swifts and possible conservation actions. Chimney Swifts are a lesser known urban bird, which are listed as vulnerable. They nest and roost in NYC and other Eastern U.S. urban centers. They provide imporant ecological services such as eating dangerous mosquitoes, which can cause disease. You can help Chimney Swifts!

I will be visiting the El Zapotal community on Wednesday October 28th to train local birding guides to lead tours and to introduce them to the Ebird App and Merlin to record bird species in their area.  This is the beginning of a long-term program of at least two years.

The Lemsachenlok Society Yaongyimchen, Longleng, Nagaland, India Celebrated the "World Migratory Bird Day" on 10th of October 2020 in Yaongyimchen Village with the young minds of the village. The event started with an introductory note on the importance of safeguarding Migratory birds and its ecological chain by Y. Nuklu Phom, Team Leader, LEMSACHENLOK.

Dr. R. Suresh Kumar, Scientist-E, Wildlife Institute of India (WII) will be giving a one hour talk to create awareness on migratory birds specifically on long distant migrants like Amur Falcons and Cuckoos. The talk will be conducted by WII as Resource Partner to the ENVIS (Environmnetal Information System) of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Govt. of India.
