As part of Nature Iraq's 10th Anniversary Festival, we will be celebrating World Migratory Bird Day by conducting birdwatching trips, displaying a photo exhibition, and holding an educational event for children.

The event started with a nature walk to Lake Munyanyange where 12 Afro-tropical and 5 Palearctic migrants were recorded. This was followed by an exercise dubbed “Keep Katwe Clean” which aimed at raising awareness on solid waste management as a means of maintaining the integrity sites of migratory birds.
Lakes Munyanyange and Katwe, found in Katwe town council are bird migration stopovers in Uganda and present a unique opportunity to watch different migratory birds such as the Lesser Flamingo, Lesser-black-backed Gulls and Pied Avocets among others.

Department of Zoology, Jagannath University, Dhaka, is going to celebrate the ‘World Migratory Bird Day 2014’ in association with Nature Study & Conservation Club of Jagannath University, Prokriti O Jibon Foundation, Wildlife Rescue Centre of Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh Bird Club, Asian Wetland Conservation Fund and Beyond Adventure & Tourism.

The World Migratory Bird Day will be celebrated in the Natura 2000 wetland of Lake Karla, a wetland of great importance for migrating, wintering and breeding waterbirds, waders, raptors and species associated with open habitats.
A special event will take place in the city of Volos with presentations for the birds and other wildlife that hosts Lake Karla (Saturday, 19:00-21:00).
On Sunday, a daily birdwatching tour will be organised in Lake Karla (10:30-12:30).
