Educational Activity

Wattwanderung zur Hallig Gröde (ca. 8 km) mit Vogelbeobachtungen (Ringelgänse und arktische Limikolen) und Erklärungen zu ihrem Zugverhalten, ihre Gefährdung und zur Lebensweise. Gröde ist die ursprünglichste und schönste der weltweit einmaligen Halligen Nordfrieslands im Nationalpark und Weltnaturerbe Wattenmeer mit den größten Ringelganskonzentrationen. Rückfahrt mit dem Schiff, eine Anmeldung ist erforderlich.

Drawing, quizing, and educational training on birds and their habitats accompanied by birdwatching activities, will occur during the weekend in Skopje Zoo, where participants can observe some species on the spot.

The event will focus on a field excursion to Mesurado Wetland with the aim to sensitize communities, bordering the wetland, for the importance of the wetland for the survival of migratory birds and the need to conserve it. During this tour, participants will also have the possibility to take part in birdwatching activities of waterbirds, that are domestic in this wetland.

Balochistan in Pakistan lies on the Black Sea/Mediterranean and the Central Asian Flyway. Migratory birds, which are coming from the freezing north have one of their stop over sites here, where they take refuge before they move further south. Balochistan provides numerous valleys, lakes and vast areas, which attract migratory birds.

Educational event organized in cooperation with different NGO-s, working for the preservation of nature in Pakistan. Lectures as well as awareness walk will be organized. The theme of this years WMBD will be respected and sustainable land use will be the main topic of the event.

Conference on migratory birds of Cajamarca, presentation of the book "Aves of Peru" (Birds of Peru), and workshop on bidrwatching techniques for beginners.

International centre for environmental education and community development-ICENECDEV will educate and sensitize students inmates and pupils in 6 schools in Buea between the 10th-13th May 2011. Posters will be posted around the schools and public places like offices to educate the general public on the importance of this day.
The students, pupils and youths will be selected to climb Mount Cameroon on the 15th May 2011 to watch the landscape of birds and take pictures of the different species of birds.

Students from the secondary level will be taught about their importance and role for the conservation of birds. They will also be informed about this year's World Migratory Bird Day theme.
About 6 schools will be choosen, counting more than 300 students that will benefit from this program.

This WMBD event in Mongolia will run from 14-15 May and will include the following activities:

• National Bird Fair;
• Bird watching for children and birders;
• Bird related public awareness;
• Bird educational activities.
