Early Morning Bird Hike 
7:30am – 9:00am | Meet in the parking lot with binoculars at the ready.

Bird Banding
9:00am – 12:00pm | Takes place near the Pavilion. Conducted by the Urban Ecology Center.

Feather Fest by City of New London

Join the City of New London for a FREE event May 12 from 8-11am at the central shelter house of Hatten Park. We'll celebrate the return of Spring and the return of migratory birds. Bring your binoculars, or borrow a pair (please bring ID for collateral), walk the trails and listen for the songs of the breeding birds. We'll have audio CDs playing in the shelter to match the singer with his song. There will be activities for the kids and Wild Ones Natural Landscapers will bring native plants for purchase.

World Migratory Bird Day at Frick Park

On May 12th, come to the Frick Environmental Center to engage your larger-than-bird brain and celebrate World Migratory Bird Day with the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy and Carnegie Museum of Natural History.

 

We will have a variety of activities for learners of all ages, from fledgling to adult, that teach ways to appreciate and help birds in our backyards including:

 

Birds without Borders: World Migratory Bird Day at Alton Baker Park

Birds without Borders: 2018 International Migratory Bird Day, a celebration of birds and their natural habitats, will be held Saturday, May 12, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Nearby Nature facilities in Alton Baker Park in Eugene. An early-bird bird walk will begin at 7:30 a.m.

The family-friendly event, cosponsored by Lane County Audubon Society and Nearby Nature, will provide outdoor learning experiences featuring kid-friendly bird walks and other educational activities at Nearby Nature’s Learnscape. Spanish-speaking guides will be available. 

Annual Bird Festival at Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge

Join us Saturday, May 12th for our Annual Bird Festival at Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge from 8 am to 12:30 pm with "Early Bird" hikes starting at 7 am. Celebrate World Migratory Bird Day with outdoor and indoor activities throughout the day! Participate in one of our special birding hikes or watch how biologists band wild birds! Check out our fun kid friendly activities! Bring your camera for an informal tips and tricks session, or bring your smartphone or other device to learn about brilliant birding apps!

Yakutat Tern Festival

The Yakutat Tern Festival is a celebration of the natural and cultural resources of Yakutat, Alaska. The festival is family friendly and offers activities for birders as well as non-birders, including field trips, seminars, kid’s activities, evening banquets and other programs, a race, and art. This year’s keynote speaker, Lynn Schooler, is an Alaskan writer, photographer, and woodworker who worked as a wilderness guide for over 25 years, specializing in serving wildlife photographers and natural history film makers.

WMBD at New Mexico Wildlife Center

At NMWC we see many birds who suffer injury or illness, often at the hands of humans. We rehabilitate every species of bird in New Mexico, and we are committed to educating the public about how to live with birds. Join NMWC on May 12 from 11 AM – 3 PM for our World Migratory Bird Day celebration. Participants will get to meet our Ambassador Animals and learn more about ways that we can conserve birds during the Year of the Bird.

Raptor Fest at at Schodack Island State Park

Audubon Society of the Capital Region presents the second annual Raptor Fest at Schodack Island State Park. Come see live birds of prey, and scan the riverfront for perched bald eagles. Music, food, and kids activities will please the whole family.

Spring Birding Weekend at Tara Wildlife

Come experience the spring migration of songbirds along the Mississippi Flyway at Tara Wildlife. The Spring Weekend activities combine both casual birding opportunities along with organized birding tours led by seasoned birders.

Tara is adjacent to the Mississippi River, providing a beautiful landscape for bird watching. Baltimore Orioles, Prothonotary Warblers, Painted Buntings, Indigo Buntings and more can be seen at Tara.

Wings Over Muscatatuck

On Friday, May 11 there will be a half-day birding tour of Muscatatuck NWR, a Big Tree walk, and an evening Bat program.  On Saturday, May 12 there will be a full day of bird-related activities including more guided birding tours of Muscatatuck, nature walks, programs with live birds of prey, children's activities, birdhouse building, a native plant walk, and much more.   On Sunday, May 13, there will be a half-day birding tour of Big Oaks NWR (advance reservations required).
